Morristown Partners:
DMC Athletic Rehab - www.dmcrehab.com -Excellent training, rehab, and now gait analysis specialist Janice Morra (PT, OCS, CSCS) on staff. Janice is excellent, experienced runner, still competing well, specializing in analysis, injury prevenion, rehab, training, running/form gait analysis. She can help improve your running whether you are new or experienced, injured or healthy.
There's Janice in action at Holmdel. Notice the lack of smooth, cinder/crushed stone path? Its not that it was that long ago that she was running there that the path wasn't there yet...she ran so fast, with such virtuoso form, that in her wake was left a trail of scorched Earth. Among her clients were local stars like Delbarton's Morgan Pearson, who did some pretty good running in Holmdel last fall as a junior.
Additionally, if you have ever wondered who "The Therapist" is from our "Ask The Therapist" section on the website, well...wonder no more, it is indeed the very same Janice Morra. If you have never wondered that or visited that section, please take the time to do so. Janice has some excellent insights and thougtful responses to several pertinent running and injury questions.
Jersey Boy Bagels - Great bagles, breakfast sandwiches, large coffee $1.95. Jersey Boy is always generous in supplying our races and events with bagles and coffee.
Somerset Hills YMCA- Cathy Grote is the running trainer there. 2 locations in Basking Ridge many great programs including a Half Marathon/ Marathon Training Group and a Women's Tri Group. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for Cathy. Steve Tylee Fitness www.stevetyleefitness.com- As much as we know running, this guy knows about lifting, training, just being ripped and strong in general. As great as we are at running, pretty sure that all of combined couldn't beat him in arm wrestling.
Other spots in town to check out:
Morristown is an active, fun, young town, with a lot of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc. to frequent for a town of its size. Right around the corner we like Tashmoo, a bar and pub owned by the Walsh family. The Walsh's are a family of great soccer players, including Olympian and pro Billy Walsh. All attended Chatham HS. Brian Walsh was an excellent distance runners, 2nd at the cross-country Meet of Champions in 1992. His career at Harvard was limited by injuries. He had his way with everybody in the area including some guy named Grote from Bernards in high school. Tashmoo has a good selection of beers on tap, and pretty tasty pub fare. http://titosburritos.com/menu.html Tito's Burritos, located on Washington, straight down South Street on the other side of The Green, is a popular spot for the Wednesday group post-run. Heather is a big fan, but do remember that she is from Canada. Burrito experts such as Ryan Grote (not Canadian) prefer Macho Nacho, and eat there often. The Machaca burrito and chile relleno are the top choices on the menu of authentic fare. Gary has tried every Sushi joint in town, if that interests you, he's your guy. Massoud runs a marathon or more per month and keeps going, recovering great, always healthy and happy, find out what he's drinking!?!?! All in all its a great community, great running community, and one that we are happy and enthused to be involved with, see you around soon! |
