Patrick Burford, (Somewhere in Long Island)
Patrick is a full-time staffer who was recently complimented by a customer for having”more knowledge about shoes and feet than anyone she's ever met,” something he takes reluctant pride in. He's also an excellent runner and competed at American University under the tutelage of the great Matt Centrowitz. While at American, Patrick ran in the NCAA Cross Country National Championships. More recently, Patrick raced for New York Running Company's club cross country team in the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Jill Roberts, Manager (Steamboat Springs, CO)
Jill grew up on the heart of the Rocky Mountains in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She's always had an interest in all sports and really got into marathon running after graduating from Oklahoma State in 2000. Jill has completed 13 marathons, including the Boston Marathon 4 times. She also won the Steamboat Marathon in 2007.

Brenda Greene (Hanover, MA)
Brenda is retired figure skater turned runner. She attended the University of Delaware where she was a member of the XC and track teams. Post college, she has continued to run competitively and can be found most morning running in central park. Her all time favorite race is the Falmouth Road Race which she does each year. She has also run the Philadelphia, New York, and Boston Marathons. |

Jerode King (Brooklyn, NY)
A member of the NYRC team since 2005, Jerode has been running since he was a high school freshman in 1979. He continued his running career at Farleigh Dickinson University (class of ’89), where his team won the Metro Conference Cross Country Championships. Jerode won the 1992 and 1993 Front Runners Gay Pride Run and holds P.R.’s in the marathon and half marathon of 2:50:33 and 1:12:42, respectively. Jerode leads the Tuesday Evening speed workouts out of NYRC at 6:30 p.m. He is also an up and coming cyclist, he sets his goals as winning one of the stories races in Europe, Milan-San Remo.

Mat Gerowitz (Cincinnati, OH)
Mat is NYRC's resident expert on ultrarunning and has been involved in the running community since 2001. A staff member at NYRC since 2006, Mat coaches the everypace group run, which meets in the store at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday nights. Mat has the last five NY City Marathons, 17 marathons,9 ultra marathons, one triathlon and countless half marathons. Mat is a certified Road Runners Club of America Running Coach.

Awit Yohannes (Derwood, MD)
Awit was a teammate of Patrick's at American University and joined him at NYRC shortly after graduating, bringing with him over eight years of competitive distance running experience. Awit has worked at NYRC since the fall of 2008.

Annemarie Agbodji (Bronx, NY)
Annemarie has worked at the store for just under two years but has learned quickly and is an expert in all things apparel. Having lived in Russia and Togo and being fluent or familiar in several languages, Annemarie is our unofficial international ambassador for the many tourists who visit the store. Annemarie is on the C.U.N.Y. track team, where she races sprint and middle distances.

Glenn Hargrove (Brooklyn, NY)
One of the longest-tenured staff members at NYRC, Glenn is highly knowledgeable of all products in the store, from shoes to apparel to accessories and sports nutrition. Glenn also lays claim to being a champion ping pong player, although this claim is heavily protested and currently under review.

India Quinby Smith (Ridgefield, CT)
India has worked at NYRC since graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2007.She ran cross country and competed on the diving team at Ridgefield High School. In college, India was a member of the lacrosse team and studied painting. A professional artist, India splits her time between freelance painting and the NYRC; her dream job would be to work at the Met (steps away from her favorite running loop in Central Park). She coaches the NYRC Women’s Team and competes in local half marathons; her favorite race is NYRR’s Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Mark Hess (Morristown, NJ)
When asked why he runs, Mark said, “I run to experience different places and people that I wouldn't notice otherwise.” His running accomplishments include: PRs of 15:40 (5k), 25:11 (8k), 33:04 (10k) and 1:11:22 (half-marathon), but he’s most proud of being able to fit in those races while working, going to school and having great relationships with his family and friends. He also would like you all to know, three times he has eaten a 48 oz. steak and on third occasion he ate the 48 oz. steak, a french onion soup, a side of potatoes, a liter of beer and a shot of whiskey.
